Pigeons!

 And yes, when I say pigeons I mean pigeons are the best thing ever! Actually I shouldn't use the word thing to describe animals. Anyway, that's beside the point. I would like to talk a little bit about pigeons. What better way to start talking about pigeons than with a few facts about them. Let's do some pigeon facts!

By the way, on the day I was writing this, I saw a pigeon trying to mate. Pretty cool, huh? Anyway, where was I.... oh yes, pigeon facts. Here are a few pigeon facts:

By the way, I think pigeons poof up their neck feathers to mate. I saw this today and my Dad said I think they're trying to mate. They looked like it, so I believe him.       

By the way, pigeons are often seen as a pest. However, in my opinion this is not true. Everyone has their own views, but that's alright. 

The type of pigeons that we often see are nearly all the same species, the rock dove. Here is the Latin name for the rock dove: columba livia. 

The relationship between pigeons and people. Pigeons are used as messenger pigeons. This is the end of this post, but I will be writing more about pigeons undoubtedly. Bye people!

Evolution

 I haven't uploaded in a while, so I want this post to be a long one. I thought it would be interesting to talk about evolution. I personally believe in the theory of evolution. If you don't, that's fine. What is evolution? Evolution is a theory often attributed to Charles Darwin, although some other people had similar ideas around the time. How I think of evolution: there was a pig with a big mouth, the food was big so having the big mouth would help the pig eat the food and therefore help the pig live longer. This means more pigs with big mouths will bread and pass on the genes for a big mouth to their child. And then so on and so on util the pigs have unbelievably large mouths. The theory of evolution applies to all living creatures.  This might not be true, but I remember hearing it in a documentary, that a branch of physics called quantum physics sometimes plays a part in evolution. Big Garden Birdwatch

The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch is an annual citizen science project that helps the RSPB get an idea of the species of birds in the UK and how they are doing. We have just submitted our results! This year we saw two great tits. two blue tits, two magpies, one coal tit and one robin. Unfortunately, didn't see any dunnocks even though we used to see them a lot. They seem to have disappeared from the garden. How do you take part in the big garden birdwatch? You don't actually need a garden to do it, you can do it anywhere. Even a heavily urbanised environment. All that matters is that you are looking at birds, having fun and posting your results correctly.
